Announcing the Dallas Symphony
Orchestra Guild's spring schedule!

Grab your appointment book or PDA!  We have finalized our Spring 2010 event schedule, and it is packed with interesting people and beautiful places!

Starting in January, we welcome a new face and two old friends.  On January 8th, composer Margaret Brouwer, joins us at Lakewood CC to discuss the world premiere of her viola concerto.  Then, on January 13th, DSO Music Director Emeritus Andrew Litton and Pianist Jon Kimura Parker team up for an evening at Robin Green's home to let us know what they have been up to.  They are both featured in the DSO's concert that week to perform Brahm's Piano Concerto No. 1.

In February, violinist Simone Lamsma is our guest for the evening to disucss the Britten Violin Concerto.  She has promised to bring her violin to the event, so don't miss this one!  March brings the Meadows School of the Arts' Dean Jose Antonio Bowen to share his vision for arts in Dallas and maybe share his talent for the piano!  The season finishes up with composer Jennifer Higdon at The Tower Club.  Hilary Hahn and the DSO are performing the world premiere of Ms. Higdon's violin concerto!

Of course, you don't want to forget the DSOG's Spring Gala!  Scheduled for Sunday, April 18th and featuring pianist Louis Lortie, this will be an evening to remember!

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Guild is a support group for the DSO that sponsors the Performance Preludes - free educational lectures at the Meyerson Symphony Center one hour before every classical series performance.  During the concert season, the Guild holds both luncheon and evening programs for its members and their guests to meet and talk with the guest soloist, the composer or the conductor featured in the upcoming weekend’s DSO performance.  These programs, designed to enrich the participant’s knowledge and appreciation of classical music, are additional ways in which the Guild furthers its educational purpose.  Proceeds from the Spring Gala will go directly to support the Performance Preludes.
